SIU Carbondale radio and television transmitters to undergo repairs
Listeners of WSIU 91.9 FM in Carbondale and WUSI 90.3 FM Olney-Effingham, and viewers of and WSIU Television in Olney-Effingham may experience periodic service interruptions during the next few weeks, according to information released by WSIU Public Broadcasting in Carbondale.
Transmitter towers will be undergoing repairs and updates for the next few weeks, according to associate director Delores Kerstein.
Engineering crews will be replacing a bent horizontal brace at the legs of one of the towers, located in Dundas, Ill., and repairing a cable that stabilizes it. They will start painting and repairing the Carbondale tower Oct. 8. The Federal Communications Commission mandated the upgrades and repairs. Read more
