Dade Prepares For Paper Ballot Voting Machines
Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach are among those going from ATM-styled touchscreen machines to optical scan/paper ballots. State lawmakers last year set aside $28 million to help pay for the new machines.
Optical scan voting systems are a form of document ballot voting system, meaning that there is a tangible record of the voter's intent (a paper ballot).
"What that provides is that a ballot will always be kept and it can be counted if there ever was a question or a recount. It will always be available," Miami-Dade Elections Supervisor Lester Sola told CBS4 Liv Davalos.
