Start Smart Traffic Safety Class Coming to a High School Near You in Claycord

Contra Costa has teamed up with 511 Contra Costa, Street Smarts - Diablo Region and Street Smarts - San Ramon Valley to bring the Start Smart traffic safety class to high schools all across Contra Costa County. "Start Smart" is a two-hour driver safety education class given by the California Highway Patrol to new and future teenage drivers and their parents/legal guardians.

Saturday's Twilight Parade kicks off Walnut Festival

The week of the walnut kicks off with the city's annual Twilight Parade, scheduled to head down Main Street downtown Saturday starting at 6 p.m. This 78-year tradition will include its usual marching bands and floats, but will also feature an air parade overhead complete with a Vietnam-era Huey gunship helicopter flying over the crowd -- part of an Honor Detail provided by VFW Amvets Post 29 and VFW Post 1351.
