Nothing but fluff....Dave Smith was in charge of the machine shop prior to his promotion. Why don't they ever tell just what the employee's gave up to keep it open? Wonder how much an hour he gets.

Low cost producer means running presses with less then the required amount of people. Meaning the people work WAY to hard with a contract that has the next 3 years with NO raise.

Yep right on that means less people on the machine but still running at the higher speeds. Working for less money while everything else goes up.

Stop your Whinning! Nobody forces you to work there for the conditions of the contract. If you don't like it move on. Because Quebecor will be moving on to other places without you. Dont think AAA and Harlequin will keep Buffalo open for very long.

The reason they dont move on is because they cant get$27.00 per hour doing anything else. If you are a pressman, you are not qualified to do anything else. Pree press is the same issue. The reason they dont leave is two fold. A major sense of inteltament, and a the lake of marketable job skills.
Please dont slam me for my spelling, unless you can respond in Itilian without perfect gramer. Remember English is one of the hardest languages to learn, I am sorry for not spelling somethings right sometimes.

Hey Razor, don't worry about critiscism of your ability to speak or spell the English language. These jokers that mock you should worry about if they will need to speak Spanish in the future. You worked at Quebecor and that's good enough for me.

Hey numb nuts .Thanks for the HR compliments.I always wanted that job so i could have fired idiots like you who helped to run the company down by constantly complaining how bad you had it.
When in fact you were part of the demise of the company. At least I got the hell out when I didn't like the situation. You have the same option to leave , but you will wallow in your own feces and eat crap from management until they throw your mediocre ass out on the street like the whining loser you are.

Atleast I am out of the hell hole on my own accord. I was smart enough to see the writing on the wall and not puttng up with the crap and the fear that they keep feeding you. If you think it is bad now wait another year or so when they want to reopen the contract again. Quebecor never lets you live out a contract it the way they broke the union by taking away your right to strike.

Know just what you are saying raul and I too know what a hell hole it was. QW always wants everything and anything back all the time with the old saying of, "If you don't we'll have to close the place!" When there is nothing more to give back without having to have your family starve and be without medical, then what? They will still threaten to close the place as management enjoys the comforts of life at the expense of the employee's give backs. Employee's - 0 Management - 100%

OOOHHHH! did i hit a nerve? we made our plant what it was, not them, they should be the ones on the outside looking in not us! they took it from a highly respected business in the community to a joke in short order. we have invested a large portion of our lives and the lives of our families in this place because we make it work no matter what they put upon us. just walking away from decades of our efforts, seniority, pay, vacation, work that you can take some measure of pride in, is cowardly to some people. we would rather stay and fight for the things we have built. and hope to make a difference. they may make the mistake of cutting too deep, then the exodus will be massive. untill then we'll wait and do our JOBS like men, and reserve our right to BITCH AND MOAN like americans....

Yep, everyone I talked to were fabuluos workers who sat on their asses taking excessive breaks and lunches, calling in sick to go to rock concerts, blaming management and press operators for all their problems. Face up to it, there are just as many lazy workers as good ones in all the plants. All companies are handcuffed in getting rid of the bums because of fear of lawsuits and violating laws that protect lazy smucks. Litigation costs an arm and a leg.
If anyone can tell me that they have a plant that has all miracle workers and every employee was God's gift to printing, I would like to see it.
You are correct in saying that the good workers are treated like crap, I cannot dispute that fact. Many sacrifices were given by many old timers who kept their plants head above water for years. You stated about cutting too deep. I believe they are already there. The new company I work for is like night and day compared to the cut throat of quebecor.I made the choice to leave because there is still work around here in my field of work. It was very difficult for me to observe what was going on with the employees on the presses and binders. When I voiced my opinion I was told "quit if you don't like it".The exodus you talk about has already started and Quebecor does not care about it one bit.Ask anyone in Merced, Dallas,Memphis, etc. This is a fact.Do I believe that you are one of the dedicated workers, sure I do. That's why you post here, the screw ups don't give a crap and they would not bother to communicate. They think only of themselves.
