Deerfield cancels ceremony
Deerfield Beach officials have canceled the pending dedication of the Police Athletic League facility because of the recent death of the son of the honoree, Sgt. Bill Murray.
Murray has been in Tennessee using up his pre-retirement vacation, and his colleagues planned to honor his 30-year career as a police officer in Deerfield Beach and his pivotal role in bringing the PAL program to Deerfield by naming a new PAL facility after him. The facility is on the second floor of the fire station on East Hillsboro Boulevard.
