DEER RIVER - A St. Augusta man has been identified as the person who died Friday when the pickup he was driving left the road in Itasca County, hit an embankment and burst into flames.

A person was killed in a crash after a pickup truck went through a stop sign, crossed several lanes of traffic, and went airborne before bursting into flames.

A pickup truck driver died in a one-vehicle crash late Friday night in rural Itasca County, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.

Fresh from her own car accident Saturday morning, Michelle L. Bartell was checking on another driver whose car had rolled over on the icy pavement when another vehicle slid off the same road and hit her, killing her.
