It is apparent from reading the websites about this incident that people believe everything that they hear and read. It is this sad IGNORANCE that is sweeping the nation. Calling this young man a "scumbag" and saying things like " too bad he missed one" is very unnecessary. As someone who was close with Erik, i do not believe for one moment that this man had ANY interest in randomly attacking someone with an aluminum baseball bat. I believe that other things went down that night. I just want to note that the judgement on this kind hearted, fun loving man that is being made should stop. He's dead, which was the intent, i'm sure, so let's just leave him to rest. He was a great person, not an "assailant" on anyone!

The facts are...customer cleaning his car is attacked. Attacked by 2 males. It doesn't matter what "went down that night." Yes they are SCUMBAGS. I doubt that he was a great person...One less worthless "assailant" around town... Thank you Mr.Police Officer...who continues to protect the public 24/7-he's the GREAT GUY... BRAVO to our Men and Women In Blue. Next time you see a police officer-smile and say THANK YOU.....

Ok commenter's , let's really look into this. Who washes their car at 3a.m. in the rain. It was raining that morning. What ere any of them really doing? How is an attacker shot in the back,um clearly that would mean that he was not attacking, right? If his back was to the officer, whether he was running or not, why did the officer pull?
Then there is the so called statement from the 2nd person, "we have been riding around for three hours looking for a hispanic person to rob". Ridiculous...maybe that statement was made because medical treatment had been refused unless stated. No robber would say anything like that, would they? This all sounds like a real story will be discovered. Nothing will bring Erik back, but the story leaks from so many holes.

And whats your point? How would you know what a robber would or would not say? Why do you feel the citizen cleaning his car is in the wrong, no matter what time it is. One less criminal on the streets! Thank you officer! That's what I say......

People are fed up with the transint population slowly heading to long island. If they just stayed in the City where they belong like Brooklyn or the Bronx, he may still be alive. Dont think that Long Island doesnt haave law abiding citizens. Many have licensed handguns. It would be wise, with all the drugs and heroin coming out here that license holders be allowed to carry. Perhaps the neighborhoods would be safer. As far as the baseball bat. all the parks are closed at that time of night. If they would be more productive in finding employment at that hour of the evening, that would not attempt the devils assignment of attacking another hard working taxpayer. I agree, he should of taken both of them out. I hope he gets an award for helping clean the streets of these transients from the city. case closed

Nothing will bring Erik back?? Good.Sounds like he does not deserve to come back.If he does come back in another form tell him to get a job and earn a living like the rest of us who were sleeping while he was scheming to rip off the wrong guy at a car wash. His soul needs a wash.
"No robber would say anything like that, would they"?Have you polled robbers lately?Coducted any surveys or researched their behaviors?Done exit interviews with them as they are lead away in handcuffs from courtrooms??Where is the data or empirical evidence to back your assertion? How can you claim to know what they think? Are your friends robbers? Was your dad a robber?BETTER STILL--ARE YOU A ROBBER??? I never realized robbers were such clear minded thinkers who carefully chose their words and comments.Very interesting.
"How is an attacker shot in the back,um clearly that would mean that he was not attacking, right"?WRONG,pal.Your naive comment does not make anything clear. The bat wielding attacker might have swung at the cop's noggin ,missed, dropped the bat, turned away to pick it back up but got shot before he could finish the job by pummeling cop into unconsciousness,ya know, sorta like kill the assassin before he kills you.Good thing cop pulled trigger.WHY GIVE A BAT TOTING THUG THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT??If i'm the victim at the mercy of a guy swingin a louisville slugger and i'm packin heat I'm gonna defend myself.I will assume a guy comin at me with a bat plans on using it.YOU PAL would probably assume he has honorable intentions, right?YOU would refrain from lethal force and get whacked in the frontal lobe, turn the other cheek, and take a second blow...by the third one you would be rendered senseless, incapable of drawing a weapon.
Then you would be dead.Pity,right.But at least we wouldn't have to read your postings here, anymore. And the only leaky hole would be from your head, the one ERIK put there.
I just love happy endings.Thanks.

Question, what was the "innocent kid" doing at the car wash at 3AM? Just curious.

The whole thing doesn't make sense, no matter how you look at it.

I READ the article, notice I put "innocent kid" in quotations??? I don't believe for a second the kid was innocent.

What I am questioning is the whole situation, none of it makes any sense at all.

Despite the festivities, something is nagging away at the back of your mind and you won't feel happy until you've done something about it.
