Full story: dpa.xtn.net

Law enforcement officers fanned out across Meigs County Thursday morning with warrants in hand, rounding up individuals indicted by the Grand Jury. At least 16 individuals are charged as a result of ongoing undercover drug operations and four individuals are charged with felony sex offenses, including aggravated statutory rape, violation of sex offender registry and one case of downloading multiple images of child porn. There are 28 total targets.

It's about time that the law enforment in Meigs does something about the Meth Labs around the area. It was years ago that you could wake up to smelling clean county air, now days you might get a smelling of something that the next door neighbors are burning due to the cooking that they have done the night before. I hope they do clean up the area. I wonder how many will get slapped on the wrist, and took out in the field for narks!!!!

I am glad that the Police Department has put their foot down to the things that peolpe are doing around here. I never knew how sick or disgusting peolpe can be, and to turn out, they are our next door neighbors! Meth Labs and Child Pornography, etc. are alot more to worry about than peolpe's race or religion or sex preference that people seem to worry about around here. We need to be looking at these little children that are victims of inhaling chemicals and fumes from what their so called parents are cooking. Maybe they should be thinking of their kids to cook real food for. Even though I am happy they have captured just a few of these people around here, but I wish it would happen more than just one time a year! Look closely, cause they are all around and more work to be done!!

I don't live in Meigs. I'm in Loudon County.
Since this is happening now, I'm guessing that the sheriff is up for reelection in 2010.
Is that correct?

they won't do jack shit to them. It all looks good on TV and in the paper. I can see it now, Dismissed: Pending Cost... Woo Hoo big deal.
And of course they ain't getting the big suppliers, where woud the cops go for their shit. Meigs County should be renamed Meth County. They will never get rid of it. And Autumn, what about Jericha, do you even care about your kid. Who the hell is gonna raise her, if you are in jail?

dude your prob the biggest user in this county. You prob been to jail also before thats the only way people will disrespect police officers and departments is if they been before. Take responsibility for you own actions and stop blaming it on everybody else. For Autumn thats what she gets, she needed to think about her kid but no DCS will prob take it away from herif she doesnt get her act together well nevermind about that once you been in jail once its only a matter of time before your back again. thats where you come in again dip shit.

No, it doesn't look like this was intended to make any lasting impact on the availability of dope in Meigs County.
This "undercover operation" is, IMHO, just a small scale operation being trumpeted and blown up to look like something big - as it is less than a year to the sheriff's reelection date.

I don't dislike law enforcement officers, but I do know something about the work. If this were everything they are making it out to be, there would something going on that I haven't seen reported anywhere.

Want to know what it is?- NO SEARCH WARRANTS are being executed!
Only a bunch of arrest warrants for street level dealers. There will be no supply disruption.

Yeah, what is this? They have to let all of the drug traffickers know there are undercover operations going on before they do any search warrants? You're right. That is stupid. This is just about elections.

The Sheriff's Department of Meigs County has looked the other way for a number of years pertaining to meth and other illegal drugs. It is time to elect a new sheriff and clean up the law enforcement of Meigs County.

Ok, why don't you get your facts straight before you go and post some stupid bullsh*t about something you aparently know nothing about. Autumn is a good mom. Did you even see the look on her face in the picture in the newspaper? Do you think some stupid user would be sober enough to even realize what planet they're on?!? Her kid is loved and well-cared for. if you have that much of a beef with the users in Meigs County, why don't you go get involved and actually DO something about it? One other thing, is being acused of selling a pill worse than murder and child porno? Apparently it is, cuz you don't see THIER friggin' pictures on the front page.

Some people say its about time they do something about all that meth and drugs and i agree but i would be willing to bet that if we could look at all the warrents that less than half would be for more than a few perscription pills and that out of all of those half would be because they could not pay there rent or buy school supplies or food and then you factor in the cost for all the warrents for arresting the one and 2 pill ppl and the man power and ask your self was one or two worth thousands cause thats what we all just paid

I guess that explains why that search warrant wasn't reported in the paper.

No, I don't believe a court clerk can SIGN an arrest warrant. They might prepare (issue) a warrant for a judge to sign when there's been an indictment.

The only thing that comes to mind, which you might be speaking of, is the bench-warrant that is prepared when the grand jury indicts somebody. The warrant is automatic.
The judge will often sign it without even looking at any of the evidence, because the grand jury has already looked at it. He just accepts the grand jurors' judgement.
That warrant may be prepared by the court clerk. But a judge's signature is still necessary.

Mr Divelbiss that is the same thing i thought to so after i posted this i went looking for TCA codes and a court clerk can not sign any kind of warrent he can only write them up and waite for the judge to sign them and in the recent bust in meigs i no of about 15 warrents that were only signed by the clerk arrest as well as search warrents the Tca code says that only a judge a judicial comm can sign either of those warrents
