Race for state's attorney heated in McHenry County

Former prosecutor Daniel Regna says he was hesitant, for family and other reasons, to run for McHenry County state's attorney.
But since announcing his candidacy last summer, Regna has made repeated attacks on incumbent Lou Bianchi, criticizing him for allowing office staff to work on his campaign and for an alleged unwillingness to negotiate plea deals in criminal cases.
Bianchi, 64, of Crystal Lake is seeking the Republican nomination for a second term as state's attorney in the Feb. 5 primary. He was an assistant state's attorney in Cook and McHenry Counties in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Read more
