This is racist. Service to the county should be a colorblind altruistic effort. Everything is made racial.

I have grown up in this community and I am grown increasingly tired of the Concilio and it's members. I remember the early days when it was an organization helping average hispanics needing help with translation of documents and general assistance dealing with local government entities. Yes Mr. Gonzalez did much to advance the latino community, but he didn't do it alone. There were MANY others who served and organized behind the scenes, they never have even got a mention in any publication to recognize thier efforts. What the Concilio has turned into is nothing more than just another activist orginization. Go back to your roots and quit with all the self serving adulation, no one cares anymore.

How about a Caucasian Day where all us "whities" can sing our praises and pat each other on the back. Nope, won't work. We would be called racist!

A very cursory and simplistic approach to your claim could probably justify your viewpoint. No doubt there would be cries of your whites only group being racist while cultural groups made up of Hispanics, Asians, African-Americans and others would escape that tag. Seems a bit unfair on the surface. Difficult to defend the concept that minority groups should be shielded from being racists while a whitss only group is not.

Perhaps history has something to do with it. Perhaps a history that is not too old to members of these groups who still remember discrimination by a white majority society. American history is one of cultural, religious and ethnic groups banding together for mutual support in the face of a white-dominated society. While ethnic groups have grown is size and power, the perceived need to band together is still there. Only now, in the face of societal change that has seen courts and legislatures pass and enforce civil rights laws, affirmative action programs introduced and expanded, it has served to alienate and anger segments of white society. The false perception that discrimination no longer exists still pervades an increasingly defensive white society that sees historical domination being threatened. Whites who have no real memory of past discrimiantory practices in American society will quickly become angered at a clearly "unfair" and seemingly unjust practice by ethnic groups to do things that whites can't. Why are they being punished for things that happened before their time?

Honestly, that is a fair question. I would hope that respectful dialogue between groups could bridge that issue but so much animosity exhists, especially on these boards, the issue will digress to the usual name calling. Sad.

Exactly correct but this is from our forfathers. The pale skins that are here now have not seen nor been involved in racism. All they have seen is reverse discrimination which has huet them just as bad. Reverse discrimination has been going on since the very early 1960's. Jobs should be given on education, experience, etc. Education should be equal for all. Grades should be given equally and based on what is learned, not on simple progress. The reverse discrimination runs deeper than sitting at the back of the bus. Drinking water from a different spicket. Swimming in a different pool. Maybe the pale skined will burn down cities and demand to get the contracts to rebuild what the burnt. Maybe they will pull truckers from their truck and cripple them for life by breaking bricks over others heads. Maybe they will kill adukts and babies just for coming into a white are. Maybe they will do as minorities of today do and revert back to having Miss White America, National alliance for the advancement of White People, The White Council, White entertainment television, White College fund, Colleges for Whites only, White groups to help only Whites excel. Maybe Whites will go to Mexico and ask to be supported, ask that Mexico change its ways for the Whites, fly the American flag, have American music scremaing from their stereos, Have all phones changed to record "if you want to hear this message in Spanish, please press 1", All papers at any level of anything will have to be printed in English also, just in case they do not wish to learn your language, they will need English interpretures in school, in court, at banks, at DMV, they will have to provide free or reduced housing, WIC, food stamps, welfare so the Americans can get by since they do not wish to learn Spanish thus making it hard for them to find work, the list goes on and on. Maybe it is because the pale skin today had nothing to do with discrimination but are being hit har by reverse discrimination, just saying.

Lesson to you all. This was a beautiful event brought together by Rick Gonzalez Jr. Charles Bronson enjoyed the event. I seen many races hugging and congratulating each other. This is how America should be. No Reisig. No Rexroad and their stupid idealogy. It wont work here guys. Take your bs to the Glenn Beck or Sean Hannity show. Do you naysayers really think your negativity can effect our event. Never. You Krackers do not understand that our event was the product of decades of injustice by all your Kracker grandparents. Without their mistreatment of Mexicans and other minorities we would not have organization like Concilio, The NAACP or the Jewish Defense League. Your Kracker hate is the fuel that we use to propel us to do better and become stronger. We will never die just multiply. I have to give credit to the rapper Ice-T. for that line it is not Bronson's. Bronson say's tough luck if you do not like it.

But todays pale skin have nothing to do with the past. Now your race blames them and they feel it. They can not organize, like you did. because it would be called racist. You are racist. Most all Hispanics are racist. You just stated that you are paying the pale skinned back the possibility that their grandparents were racist. What a racist bubch of people you are. Entitlements, entitlements.

Much thanks need to go out to those who feel the urge to come on here w/ their disparaging comments towards an event and group that provide nothing more than goodwill. It's these same mindsets/behaviors that lead to assisting groups such as The Concilio.

I'm sure Rick Gonzales Sr. did not need the extra motivation of bigotry that existed in his day to spearhead this organization, he just wanted to help others. But if your grandparents', parents'(or as BrainDead claims was only the "forefathers") ugly mindsets provided him some, well I thank them. I'm also sure that Rick Jr. does not need the extra motivation to continue the goodwill efforts that his father started, but if the more modern bigoted internet poster can provide some, than again, I thank you.

It takes good people and kind hearts to put the efforts forth that make The Concilio and other like organizations go. It takes neither of those strong traits to naysay such efforts. In fact, it takes the opposite. Once again, thanks to those that make it more than clear that The Concilio's efforts are necessary.

Hate to waste all the thanks on the minority of bitter naysayers, so time to give it where it belongs....

To Rick and ALL The Concilio members/supporters that have gone above and beyond, THANK YOU and keep up the great work!

God Bless The USA and Viva La Raza!

Are you saying that the Mexican race is unwilling to listen to anyone less they become violent? I am Native American, not Honky tonk. I am married to a Mexican. Her mother was illegal, one of her brothers born in Mexico and here illegally also. I have no idea where those places are that you mentioned. I have no idea the racial breakdown of Colusa. I get along with all. I am just expressing facts that obviosly cannot be accepted without this kind of reaction from people like you. I do not worry. I could have you off'd, by Mexicans, for your disrespect to me. It would merely take a phone call. You have just lost my respect and I will no longer counter you stupidity.

It was not an awards show but simply a historical perspective as presented. I guess you missed it?
Should be on again. I think you would enjoy it.
Not even historical reconstruction, but simply a noted history.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Taurus

Someone isn't mucking about today, and if they're annoyed about something they'll come right out with it. This means you could be on the receiving end of some zingers, but equally it means that you'll be giving as good as you get. Now, although it will be very tempting to let off steam by giving someone an earful, aren't there better directions in which to channel your energy?
