Responding to anti-sanctuary activists, Tustin puts SB-54 issue on its agenda
Dozens of activists, on both sides of the sanctuary state debate, hold signs while they sit in the chambers during the Dana Point City Council meeting on April 17, 2018, where the council voted 3-2 to support the county's condemnation to SB 54. Tustin is a diverse city, where almost 40 percent of residents are Latino and voters who register as Democrats edge out Republican voters. Thus, the city has reacted with caution to the anti-sanctuary movement that has swept Orange County, starting with the Los Alamitos City Council vote in March to "opt out" of SB-54.
