Do you think this Straten guy has ever been to Damascus or Taylors Valley? Good luck to him and to the district he serves.

I could care less about Jack's win or loss. The question was about Straten.
by the way, it is "like a knot on a log."

I am sorry. I forgot people that are elected don't have to answer to anyone until the next election.

Dipshit, It does matter what elected officials do. Why would we want to have someone represent our community that had no interest in what happens to our community.

Just my two cents added- I think Jack did a good job for the residents of the Taylor district- ultimately what cost him was his stand regarding the proposed Luv Truck stop in the back door of Meadowview Elementary School- Alot of people were very critical of his stance regarding this situation but whats funny, none of the ones who were critical of Jack had kids attending that school to my knowledge. Jack has worked very hard to bring new ball fields to Damascus for the children to have additional places to play ball-Just an FYI- The board of Supervisors on Jack's recommendation approved a $2000 donation this summer for the girls team that participated in the World series and were on the raod traveling almost three weeks- The parents were very Thankful for this and it sounds like alot of money but it actually was $200 per family and probably help cover most of the gas while on the trip- Mr. Straten personally was opposed to this, he said that he felt it was wrong to take money from the County and help support a ball team. One can only be left to wonder where his interest are at when he feels its wrong for the County to make a nominal donation to a group representing not only Washington County, not only the State of VA, but 10 states in the Southeast. I voted for Jack McCrady because he is a local man with local interest, Mr. Straten has only lived in Washington County a handful of years and I am left to wonder does he have all of the residents best interest at heart? Certainly by his statement regarding the Little League contribution that was not the case. That been said, we have him for four years, I hope he proves me wrong and does stand up for the right agenda for all of the residents of the Taylor district- Time will certainly tell.

Jack represented more people than just the town of Damascus and Taylor's Valley. His district ran all the way up to the Saltville line. Those people wanted (and needed) the truck stop jobs and those are the people that beat him. I think he will have a long future as a mayor and council member.

I dont think the people will elect him to the Mayor or Council, he is a has been in both of these offices, and the Town voted him out of both of these.

Its my understanding from the Board of Supervisors meeting that the project has been placed out for bids in the past two weeks and the bids will be reviewed and awarded the first of December with construction to begin in the spring- From all that I have learned the hold up has been with the Army Core of Engineers in regards to drain issues. Anytime you deal with politics it takes longer than anyone expects and certainly that has been the case here but as stated above, from all I understand the project is going to happen- that is unless our new Supervisor puts a wrinkle in that which I can't imagine him been able to do so.

maybe if jack wasnt such a crook he would have been elected! I know of about 25 votes cast against him because he ripped a guy off in wideners valley! He was building a house for a guy and never finished it after being paid in full. So ask yourself is this the kind of person you want rep you? I dont think so!

Just curious, can you provide examples in Jack's case as to what he did not do that you requested?
