It was a piss poor excause for firefighting. What was a minor fire they said was spreading through the vent system. But they didn't turn the vent system off.

Poor excuse for editing an article as well, reported the the EPA clean up had begun before they reported that at 1:00 pm Monday the fire had re-ignited,
I am sure they meant Monday at 1:00 am

All departments should be paid. They would receive the training to handle such incidents. The fire departments should know what kind of volatile chemicals are in the businesses in the areas they cover.

Being on the scene, with volunteers and career fire fighters, the only shame is that a facility with numerous hazards including chemicals that could potentially injure and harm the surrounding community had no monitored automatic alarm system, fixed fire protection and being inside finding blocked open automatic fire doors.

The fate of the facility was decided when the owners completely disregarded the safety of the community, workers and the future of the business by not investing in basic fire and safety systems.

Invest in codes and enforcement, your volunteers are priceless!

So who holds the owners accountable? Is it the FM's job to file charges for these violations?

I am sure the fire system is code for when the builing was built. However when you have the type of chemicals that they have they should have reported them to local fire department. I am glad no fire fighter got hurt. It could of been much worse.

It's a good day for making domestic plans, and some of these will be quite ambitious without being unrealistic or far-fetched.
