Eureka City Schools candidates talk budget cuts

Gaye is the one to win. Gaye has also worked for and mentored by an amazing administrator in Berkely, Eric Smith, who is savvy and brilliant. Eric Smith is sought after by school districts around the state. This is Gaye Gerdts background.

I checked with two of the board members today. Gaye lied when she said the current board ignored repeated warnings of the pending budget crisis. Not only did they, but Gaye wouldn't have the slightest idea of what they are doing or not doing. You see, she had never attended a board meeting until two months ago. Never.

The fact is, she was very hard to get along with while she worked here.

Duh...there's a thing called board minutes and board pacs....HELLO

None of the board members were regular board attenders before they were elected...

And you would know this from Oakland ?

Could Mr.Fullerton explain the "necessity" of the new 58" big screen in the boardroom? Is this how the stimulus dollars are spent? Seems to me if we are tightening our belts, that purchase would fall under frivolous,but so many do these days. Excessive and frivolous.

I do believe Eric Smith worked as an administrator in our district some years ago.

Wrong!!! They were told repeatedly if they signed the teachers package it would break us. Well, they signed it and we're broke (except for enough to buy the new 58" TV in the boardroom.

Is this the kind of supporters Gerdtz has ? Ones that lie like a dog about some imaginary big screen tv ? Shame on all of you !

I'm pissed. I am friends with one of the board members who isn't even involved in this race & I don't like the way Gerdtz is telling lies about my friends.

Excuse me. I was in the boardroom yesterday. It is still the box, but it is there. I would just like an explanation of where the money came from to buy it. I am not friends with any board members or potential board members. I do work for this district and have children in this district and pay taxes to support excessive expenditures.

So tell us oh wise one, how much did the teacher's raise cost the district & how much did the district have to cut the budget?

You're quick to blame us teachers, so do you have any facts to support your accusations?

Don't take it personal Susan; it's the union that is so militant.
Especially when certain ones voice their opinions of salary to the students to put the pressure on...very professional.

thank you. I know my paycheck went up a whopping 75.00 a month after the last potion of our raise wen through. OK, that might be a lot to some, but this was the first raise we have gotten in years. We don't even keep up with the minimum wage increases.
