Redwood Fields arson leaves hefty price

Just another example of the sick and twisted minds that live amongst us. To trash a place as nice as this,that is truely for the kids is sick. Just for lack of nothing better to do. I used to say this city is "becoming" a cesspool. Eureka "is" a cesspool and it is highlighted daily by random acts of stupidity and selfishness. So sad!!

I'll wait until the EPD increases the reward to $1500 then I'll call them.

You'll be waiting a long time dog breath because this is in the Humboldt County Sheriff's jurisdiction. And they couldn't find their butts with both hands and a map.

Most likely the same group of little outlaws that have been doing so much damage to the local schools. It is a shame that we forced to spend money to fix the stuff they damage.

I like Redwood Fields. My sons play for Redwood Empire, and one plays in Eureka Junior Leauge Football. All this will do is hurt the kids. If there is anyone out there that can help purchase more picnic tables, it would be nice if you could help.

Someone is starting fires in the forest between Humboldt Hill and South Bay School. This is probably the work of an ignored teenager. I am glad that it's so wet here so the fires die out, but I get the feeling that this person wants a bigger fire and is quite deranged.

This type of of field is really important to kids all over Humboldt County (and out of Humboldt) that come there to play. I know the idiot who destroyed this property wouldn't likely be reading this. As a local soccer parent, we spend a lot of money and volunteer hours doing everything from coaching to fund raising so our kids can have a safe and fun environment to grow. For those of you who use these fields or others, but haven't made an effort to participate, we need you. Setbacks like these put an even greater burden on the families that subsidize the fields and sporting events.

Not sure how it works in Eureka,(I assume it's similar) but parents in Arcata and McKinleyville pay monthly dues to mow the fields and take care of bathroom maintenance. It's a shame to see such hard won efforts be lost to stupidity. I hope you catch the vandals Rex.

Yea, I've seen dozens of burnt out vehicles in those woods... I get so angry when I see all that garbage littering the woods. I hope they catch the vandals.

They also cut down our AMERICAN FLAG and BURNED IT on top of the pile. Real Classy! NOT!!! we WILL FIND YOU and you will be dealt with

This Cutten arson act caught me off guard, unlike the one that made me jump out of bed at 3 am, a few years ago, to the sound of two thunderous explosions of a burning car two blocks from this recent act of vandalism.
