To execute this function in the Cutten area has to be one of the worst ideas yet. Cutten is not set up for it. First, the parade will close off the one major egress route out of the area. Second, the area is largely residental and Sequoia Park is oriented for far smaller gatherings. This is going to be one huge mess.
Why not execute the function in a more central and larger location such as the 20/30 park? More room, better access, and greater visibility if you feel you have a message to convey. Cutten/Sequoia Park is small and off the main routes. The only message that will remain is that of noise, congestion, and trash. Please respect the private proerty rights of those who live around Sequoia Park |

Sequoia Park is a community gathering place, not just an attractive backdrop for neighborhood residents. And the beleaguered Zoo could use the cash. An abandoned zoo would be a bigger inconvenience to the neighborhood than 6 hours of festival. I'll be there, not throwing trash in your yard.

This is indeed wonderful news.
I live just two blocks from the Zoo look forward to attending and celebrating. |

John, Bob I expect you will be attending.
Don't disappoint me. Say hello to the Gays for me. |

Is this the very first time you have ever protested the use of the Zoo by a group of citizens? Tell us about the other times, just so we can be sure you are not raising your voice of protest because you don't like Gays and their ilk. |

As a Gay NRA member, I think you need to explain yourself more fully. NRA members do not bring weapons of war to public gatherings. Are you trying to damage the reputation of the NRA? The reputation of Gay people? If you don't explain yourself in more detail, I think you will only be damaging the reputation of yourself. |

A poster with a San Leandro ISP has written hateful trash so often that he is considered a troll. He writes under many, many names. See post #5 above for a typical example of his work.
He enjoys knowing that he is tormenting people with good hearts and strong consciences. He enjoys spreading fear and loathing. The best way to deal with him is to report his abuse using what he calls the "sensitivity button" that is colored blue and shows on each post. That and to not reply. For any joy I may have brought him by posting this message, I apologize to everyone else. Note: I call the troll a male because I can't believe anyone so vile could be a woman. |

I hope The Sub-Standard has turned over the information from antifaggot to law enforcement.
And the crowds can not be anyworse than drunken sofball tourneys when softball was big. I bet the beer flows a whole lot less at the Pride Festival than one of those ball games. |

I think it was a perfect example of poor planning to have this at the zoo. This is a FAMILY neighborhood and the streets CANNOT handle large amounts of traffic. My neighbors and I will be submitting formal complaints to the city over this. Why couldn't they have done this in old town? They have the facilities (the gazebo and waterfront), parking and streets to handle the traffic. you can thank our worthless city council for this logistical blunder as usual.

This is exactly what I was getting at in the first place. |

You are of course referring to Middle-o-the-Roa d. He also goes by Wonderz, The Real Bubba Joe and/or whatever his twisted, hateful mind can come up with at any moment. He considers the T-S website his personal toilet, which he soils with over 100 posts a day under God only knows how many screen names 7 days a week for 12 hours a day. His childish, one-dimensional rants are very easy to spot. He is a classic, textbook sociopath with delusions of grandeur whose neurotic, pathological hatred for authority figures is probably a result of his having done time in prison. The worst thing we can do is to ignore this hateful psychopath because that only encourages him to continue with his hateful, anti-social rants. Call him on them when you see them and hopefully he will find another website to soil with his filth. |

Equality AOL No other "group of citizens" ever held a parade through downtown Cutten. All other functions at the zoo were held AFTER HOURS where impact was minimal to the neighborhood. There are only three roads out of Cutten. The parade route will cut off the most direct route in and out of Cutten for emergency services or someone needing to get to the hospital in a hurry. There are no other routes that circumvent a closed Walnut Ave without traveling half way through Eureka. And since YOU brought it up. Prove that this is not just a thinly veiled political in-your-face rally as suggested within the article. Cancel the parade and hold the function at the zoo AFTER HOURS as every other "group of citizens" have in the past. |

Actually, if you think someone is a troll, it is best to ignore them. Giving them any attention, even negative, is what they crave. The mantra is "Don't Feed the Trolls". It's simple, really. I'm sure you don't take the time to stop and have conversations with people screaming, cussing, and arguing with themselves on a street corner... why would you take the time to do the same here? |
||||
So, according to your argument we all should have just ignored Post #5 and his anti-gay remarks. If that is what you really think than I hope you are never given any responsibility to take care of others who can't defend themselves. If you catch a pervert masturbating in front of your children at a park, do you just ignore him? If you see a women being beaten up by a man, do you just look the other way? It is exactly that kind of mentality that motivates sociopaths like Middle-o-the-Roa d to post his disgusting, sub-human filth because enlightened people like you prefer to just ignore the uglier things in life and pretend they don't exist instead of stepping up to the plate and doing something about it. By ignoring such behavior you are enabling the perpetrator to continue with the behavior. Please, don't ignore hateful posts like #5 and just look the other way. Call them on it and hopefully he will go away and find another website to soil. |

You keep saying "hopefully he will go away" but I'm telling you your method is completely wrong. Look it up. Talk to your Internet-savvy friends. "Don't fee the Trolls" is a true pearl of wisdom. In the several years this particular troll has been plaguing these forums, only one thing has managed to moderate his cruel and savagely insane comments: People use the "Report Abuse" button, which alerts the Times-Standard monitor to review and perhaps remove the offensive posts. If each person uses that button each time the troll gets out of hand, the T-S can clean up the mess. They've done it before and can do it now if enough of us Report the Abuse. I am talking from experience. Nothing else works. What you are advising is to throw gasoline on a small fire to try to extinguish it. Your heart is in the right place, but the method you are advising will not have the pleasant result you imagine. |

TWP, I meant to write:
"Don't feed the Trolls." |

And The Sub-Standard did remove the abused report. I do hope they took it one step further and made a attempt to do a DNS look up and nail this guy for attemped assualt or inciting.

You know, the parade route is only a little over a half-mile long and would take about 15 minutes to walk at a normal pace. I don't see how such a short parade could cause you so much grief unless you were already set up to believe the worst about the people who will be participating in the event. Let me put it another way. The streets around the Zoo are often congested but very few of the people who live around the Zoo get hysterical if some other group of citizens uses the Park. Picnics have often been held there, sometimes with musical groups and sometimes they are amplified. Many of these events have been held for hundreds of citizens at a time, during the daytime, going back at least to the 1940s. Whenever these events have been held, hundreds of cars and trucks have been driven and parked on the streets surrounding your neighborhood. Those citizens sometimes walked on the sidewalks and streets. I don't have time right now to research your assertion that no one has ever had a parade in Cutten before. But I do enjoy your use of the phrase "downtown Cutten." I didn't know until just now that Cutten HAD a downtown! Thanks for giving me a chuckle to lighten the burden of replying to someone who I feel is making a federal case out of a mole-hill, if you get my drift. |

"In the several years this particular troll has been plaguing these forums..." Good God, listen to your own words:"In the several years this particular troll has been plaguing these forums..." Several Years! And you're asking me to accept your authority because: "(you are)talking from experience." Wow, if your idea of success is putting up with this nonsense for "several years" and there is still no end in sight, then why not try something else. You own words show that your "experience" is worthless. As the Queen said: "The lady doth protest too much, methinks." Hamlet Act 3, scene 2 |
