While southbound traffic flowed relatively smoothly from James Madison Highway onto Main Street, motorists coming into town on State Route 229 faced double the wait they had previously experienced with the old traffic-light system. The Route 229 problem stemmed from a temporary stop sign placed at the entrance of the roundabout, which caused motorists to come to a complete stop and wait for breaks in James Madison Highway traffic before entering the single circle lane now open.
