When a person is abused, they think each time it will stop. They are in denial and STIFLE their fear and "survival instincts" and tend to act as if the abuse is happening to someone else.
Then the abuser will cross a line (every abused person has a different issue that would cause this) and all the pent up fear and concerns for their life and that of their children EXPLODE, therefore the survival instinct kicks in in high gear - and it is definitely self defense when the victim hurts the abuser. It's easy to say LEAVE the abuser - so many times the victim works - has children in school - has parents that live close by - SO the abuser defiitely could find the victim or the victim's loved ones. Also a piece of paper will not stop someone determined to kill... |
