The Coleman-Pound Lions Club has been in the process of building a "Walk of Fame" at Lions Point on the south entrance to Coleman on County Trunk CP/Business Highway 141.

The club has already has established a flagpole. welcome sign and gazebo. The next project stage is to lay a sidewalk from the street west of the area to the gazebo, which would include a "Walk of Fame".

According to Ted Verges, club member, the Walk of Fame will be created by selling memorial lettered bricks to edge the sidewalk.

"The bricks will commemorate individuals, families, businesses and organizations of the Coleman-Pound area," Verges said. "The proceeds from the project will be used to build the sidewalk, finance improvements at Lions Point and support other Lions Club charitable contributions. The success of the project in essential on the help of indivduals and businesses."

Amanda Kempka of Crivitz graduated Nov. 16 after completing the 1800 hour barber/cosmetology program at Wisconsin College of Cosmetology in Green Bay.

The Java Lodge is located one block west of U.S. Highway 141 on Mira St. at 743 Dyer St.

The Crivitz Food Pantry will have only one food distribution date next month. They will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec.

As many dedicated sportsmen and women of the Lakeshore area have learned, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is considering several major changes to the deer hunting season starting in 2010.

SHINE (Serving Him in the Needy and Elderly) will be having a Halloween Extravaganza Party for young children on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 12 to 4 p.m. at St. Anne Parish, 228 E. Main St., Coleman. Children ages zero to 5th grade are invited to attend, as there will be a visit to a haunted house, a hay ride, games, and lunch with punch. Come dressed in a costume. A party for sixth to 12 graders will be held from 8 to 11 p.m., with an optional lock-in event scheduled from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. There will be a haunted house visit, a hay ride, games, pizza and soda. A permission form from a parent or a legal guardian must be signed in order to participate in the lock-in.
