Justice Department determines PA prison violated inmate civil rights
On Friday, May 31st, the US Department of Justice released a report stating that a Pennsylvania State prison in Cambria County violated the civil rights of inmates with serious mental illness and/or intellectual disabilities by keeping them in solitary confinement for 22-23 hours a day for an indeterminate period of time.
Feds say Pa. prison misused solitary confinement
A federal civil rights investigation has concluded that a state prison in western Pennsylvania kept inmates with serious mental illness in solitary confinement for months or even years at a time.
The National Transportation Safety Board estimated on Tuesday lowering the legal blood alcohol rate from .08 to .05 would save between 500 to 800 lives each year.
