Severely Wounded Local Soldiers Treated In Germany
“We're also doing it for the Iraqis, the Iranians. We're doing it for the entire world.”
Soldiers severely wounded in Afghanistan and Iraq are often sent to Germany for medical treatment and to recuperate from their injuries. CBS 2's Rob Johnson is on a four-day trip in Germany with Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn, visiting Illinois troops there to give thanks for their sacrifice.
Friday was a powerful day at the military hospital in Landstuhl, Germany. Some of the most severely wounded soldiers are being treated here. And Lt. Gov. Quinn, with box after box of letters and cards from school children and sports memorabilia, combed the halls of the hospital hoping to raise the spirits of the injured veterans. Read more
