Editorial: On the Fourth of July we celebrate the legacy of our foundersa vision
Preparations are already well underway for community celebrations for the Fourth of July holiday, marking 242 years since 56 delegates signed the handwritten Declaration of Independence. From the beach at Bolinas to Grant Avenue in downtown Novato, locals will gather to mark this anniversary of America's independence and our shared commitment to our rights of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” Even today, as we face deep political divides over the direction President Donald Trump wants to lead our nation, we can still come together and celebrate the enduring framework that was built by those delegates, men who risked their lives and fortunes by signing their names on that parchment.
