Letting her out is wrong. She helped kill 7 people, and as far as I'm concerned she's getting whats coming to her!! Death In Prison!!

Former prosecutor Stephen R. Kay opposes Atkins' release. Kay, 65, said he had attended about 60 parole hearings related to the killings over the years and spent a lot of time with the victims' families, witnessing their suffering.

"Atkins married twice while in prison. For a long time, she got conjugal visits," Kay said Monday. "And Sharon Tate and the others were dead and buried long ago. So I think it's a matter of principle that she should not be granted clemency."

Kay, who retired as a deputy district attorney in 2005 and now works as a city attorney for Redondo Beach, said he would be "shocked" if Atkins was released.

"Because of Susan Atkins' actions, I just can't see her being released," he said. "I haven't really seen that she has actual remorse for the victims' families."

But prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi said Monday that he'd provided a declaration for today's hearing supporting Atkins' release largely because of her failing health.

Bugliosi said Lampel told him that Atkins had not only lost a leg, but that the other one was paralyzed. In an e-mail to Atkins' attorney in support of her release, he wrote that the notion that "just because Susan Atkins showed no mercy to her victims, we therefore are duty-bound to follow her inhumanity and show no mercy to her" was wrong, Bugliosi said.

"Mercy is already built into California statutory law, because if it weren't, we would automatically give the death penalty for every murder case, which we don't," he said. "My point is, what mercy are we giving her? It's not like she has six months to live, and we're letting her go home and she's going to have fun with her family.

"My view is that anyone who opposes her request, other than relatives of the seven Tate-La Bianca victims ... is either being robotic or extremely callous," Bugliosi said. "The mercy being requested now is almost too minuscule to speak of because she's in bed and she's going to die."

Blah. It is kind of pointless, 1.4 million dollars of our tax money so far, and its not over yet. However, she won't be leaving that hospital, from what this said. So why petition for release?

Did they NOT give her the death penalty and actually carry it out ???? Manson as well, we the tax payers have been supporting these killers all this time for what ??....Our system is wrong with this idea. My opinion is if you are in prison for killing somone then you to should be put to death.

Why should the people pay for them to live ..It is crazy.

Tell it to the persons wrongfully convicted and since removed from death row! Better yet, go get those already in the grave for crimes they did NOT commit. IF we could be 100% on every case then you'd have a valid point but the system is quite imperfect.

But since she IS guilty, hell give her the needle like they did Tookie Williams and then all this will fade from memory by the following day..

Great news. Just read that the CA Parole Board denied the release of the BITCH. Best news I've heard since Billy Clinton wasn't thrown out of office for the hum-job.

For convicted child killers "Richard Allen Davis and people who were convicted beyond a resonable doubt..like say "Scott Petersen" they should not get the privlage to breathe anymore !!

They did, but the California Supreme Court commuted all death penalty rulings made in California prior to 1972. Something to do with People v. Anderson, never bothered to read it, maybe now, I will.

Her husband is MORE than welcome to pay back all California tax payers, for the medical bills! <shrugs>

Why don't they just "Euthanize" her if it is so bad !! She has had to suffer for what she did, and this won't be last time she will suffer either..

Scott Perterson was tried in the news. They didn't find a body, that is a critical piece of evidence. He shouldn't be on death row on circumstantial evidence. This is not to be constured as support for Scott Peterson, it is meant to be in support of due process.
