Call Of The Cicadas In Full Force On Long Island
On Thursday night on Long Island, there was a sign and sound of the times.
An insect infestation that occurs every 17 years is really bugging residents.
They're called cicadas and as CBS 2 HD has learned, everything you've heard about them is true.
"This is the chorus of the cicadas -- the 17 year locusts," Coram homeowner Karen Chalson said. "They are everywhere. You step on them they squash! ICK!"
Chalson and her neighbors live in cicada country these days. Pennequid Road in Coram is one of several Suffolk County locations currently infested.
