July 11, 2008 -- Several new groups have volunteered to help keep Upper Peninsula highway roadsides clean as part of the Michigan Department of Transportation's Adopt-A-Highway program.

Eight new miles will be added to the 25 mile long Copper Harbor Trail this summer, thanks to the work of a grass roots group.

Where's that? Copper Harbor is Michigan's northernmost city. The name of the Keweenaw Peninsula community harkens back to the mining that first lured settlers to the rugged wilderness in the 1840s.
