Council to vote on electric rate hike

The Cookeville City Council will consider approving an electric rate increase when it meets Thursday.Cookeville Electric Department Director Tony Peek said the reason for the increase is that the TVA Cookeville Electric Department Director Tony Peek said the reason for the increase is that the TVA board voted to increase the wholesale rate by 1.5 percent last month. "We looked at the average residential customer, and it's about a $1.50 to $1.75 per month increase," Peek told council members during Monday afternoon's work session.
