Student shot dead, officer stabbed at Myrtle Beach school

Police or resource officers should not be allowed to carry firearms inside our schools either, they have non-lethal weapons at their disposal and that's what they should use.

Hey,it is a terrible thing that happened, but if the student would've been acting in a manner he should've been acting, this would never had happened. Why is the shift of blame ALWAYS put on the officers???? People need to step up and take reponsibility for their OWN actions!!

I don't believe Police should be in schools I hate to see it.... However do to the fact kids today don't have the homes we grew up in and they are not raised like we were, to respect others. This is a very sad day for our community. Yes, I live in the school district where this happened. I am sure the officer had no choice and must have believed he must act.

Don't be to quick to blame before you know the facts.

if the kid had checked he might have realized the same thing (knife against guns). as with your thinking then cops on the street should not carry either since they could be overpowered. i think the cops in harlem ny would disagree though. now i have to say i am sorry for the family of that boy but till we know what happened i can not just blame the cop.

Now we're comparing schools to prisons.......

The kid was not only stupid enough to take the knife to school... But actually stabbed an officer with it!!! Thank God he's dead. Best possible result. The world is better without this kind of people. Duh!

Dale, is there a rule I'm not aware of that states the police must only have fair fights with armed suspects? You really think the police should not be armed when being STABBED? I'm glad you are not in charge of the military or anything important.

Apparently this boy snuck this knife into school and went into the resource officer's office with the full intention of stabbing him....

I am certain that policeman had no intention of going to that school that day thinking "I am going to shoot someone today"

A sad ending, but it certainly had the possibility of being a sadder ending.

A weapon is a weapon, it is a proven fact that a person can run and stab a police officer within a 12 foot range, before the officer can draw his gun and fire...That is FACT! Then people wonder why officers are always on guard and seem to have attitude.

Elementary school argument! The prison is a "contained, and controlled environment", the streets are not.

The student could have just as easily over-powered the SRO, took his firearm, shot him and anyone he chose too.

Any officer in our nation can be over-powered anywhere, anytime, including schools, churches, the street,etc. then innocent persons hurt or killed. Instead of bashing the officers, you should be praising them. Since SRO's were put into schools the problems are slightly dwindling. I'm sure many of these SRO would rather be on the street any day instead of being imprisoned in a school with some of the kids today.
Considering what it would be like without SRO's in our school systems, the SRO programs are proving effective!
