Man Who Shot Dog For Stealing Food Sentenced
A Conifer man was sentenced Thursday for shooting the family dog in front of his four children after the dog took food off his plate.

Contract postal employee killed in crash near Conifer
From the Colorado State Patrol:
On May 24, 2008 at approximately 12:00 P.M., Colorado State Troopers responded to a fatal crash on South Warhawk Road south of Shadow Mountain Road in Jefferson County. A white 1982 Am Gen Jeep was northbound on S. Warhawk Road. The vehicle traveled off of the right side of the roadway and into a small ditch colliding into the embankment. The vehicle then rolled 1/4 time onto its right side, and the driver was ejected from the right side door.
The unrestrained female driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson County Coroner.
Alcohol or drugs are not suspected as contributing factors.
The vehicle was a contract carrier for the US Postal Service. The mail was emoved by the USPS Postal Inspector.
Next of kin have not been notified.

Conifer Man involved in fatal crash
On December 17, 2007 at approximately 7:37 P.M., Colorado State Troopers responded to a fatal crash on Highway 74 milepost 4 in Jefferson County. A pedestrian was crossing Highway 74 from the east at the intersection with Brookline Road. A white 1990 Mazda MX6 was westbound on Highway 74 when the pedestrian walked into the path of the Mazda. The Mazda's front collided with the right side of the pedestrian.
The pedestrian has been identified as James Steele, age 65 of Evergreen, CO. Steele sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson County Coroner.
The driver of the Mazda has been identified as Nathan Meader, age 23 of Conifer, Colo. Meader sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
Alcohol or drugs are not being investigated as contributing factors.
Charges are pending, if any.

Conifer Man Dies In Single-Car Crash
A 20-year-old Conifer resident was pronounced dead in Boulder County on Saturday following an early-morning crash on Colorado Highway 93.
Jason Shaw Sustained fatal injuries after the vehicle he was traveling in veered off the right side of the roadway and hit multiple posts, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The car then vaulted off a dirt embankment, rolled and struck a power poll. Shaw, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle.
Boulder County authorities said alcohol or drugs are suspected as contributing factors to the crash. The victim's family has been notified.
