The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is using part of its $4.6 billion in stimulus money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to improve dams, waterways and recreation areas across America.

U.S. Sens. Jeff Bingaman and Tom Udall, D-N.M., report the Senate has approved legislation funding New Mexico's two national laboratories and a variety of key water-related projects.

Lujan set to open distirct office... U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Lujan will be in Tucumcari to officially open his district here at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.

No fireworks are being allowed in Quay County because of the fire ban, but fireworks can be set off in the Tucumcari city limits, according to city and county officials.
