Pictures of famous politicians are easy to find, but a mint condition black and white photograph of your own father shaking hands with Robert F. Kennedy is a rarity. Robert Yost Jr., a former English teacher and chess coach at West Charlotte High School, is the proud owner of this historic and personal artifact.
The image, probably captured within a year of Kennedy's assassination, is testimony to a friendly exchange between two politicians -- one a Democrat, one a Republican -- in the late 1960s. It is also the prized possession of a son who lost his father to cancer just a few years later, in 1971. Read more
