Where did the journalist come up with the 6200 ft. figure when referring to the elevation change in the Konocti challenge. Cobb Mountain is only 4720 ft. high. Let's not feed another Lake County myth. We have our share already.

Riders guage a ride's difficulty by how many feet of climbing is done during the course of the 100 mile ride. This ride has 6,200 ft of climb in total over the entire course as there are ups and downs constantly. Yes, Konocti is not that high, but if you add up all the climbs, 6,200 ft is correct. It's not a net gain, it's the total. Say you go from Clearlake Oaks to Lower Lake (gain on the grade between them, then to the Riviera, there's a gain there, then from there, over Cobb to the rest stop at Yogi Bear's campground, another gain, etc. They may never get over 4,000 in elevation, but will climb 6,200 ft of grades before they get the steak dinner Kenny's cooking for them!
