The reason my wife and i moved out to Clermont from Orange County was to start our family in a quiet, laid back and peaceful area. All of that will disappear if the Red Light district is approved. We may as well move to OBT in Orlando. This is ridiculous and will attract all of the people we'd like to keep out of our city. This may be the beginning to the end for the "Family Oriented" Clermont as we know it now.

Clermont is growing too fast as it is. Do you want more drug dealers and rapists living near you? Think about your kids or grandkids will they be safe sleeping in they beds

The only reason my family lives here is to avoid this. If this happens my tax dollars will disappear along with my family. Since every other house in my neighborhood is for sale or rent right now, I assume the tax money will eventually be missed.

I live directly in that area of Clermont Commons. I chose Clermont for the small town, family atmosphere like most of us here did. Imagine the changes if a Red Light district is approved... do you want your spouse, your children or grandchildren exposed to this. Taking a drive and passing these types of establishments on your way to the store, church or on daily errands. The outside influences, the patrons and workers it will bring into the area. Ever drive down OBT and not see a prostitute or drug deal going down? If you dont think this will happen if this change is approved you are nieve and like in a bubble. Our little city isnt perfect. We have our share of drugs and devients.. do we really need to add fuel to that fire? Once it starts it will be uncontrollable! I agree with the previous posts: there is a club down at 192 / 27, turn that into your Red Light district if you must have one.
And YES the City Council Meeting is Oct 27th. You can check the Clermont City Website for an agenda. |

If they want to put some adult businesses in Clermont, why not cluster them down around the 192 area? It would draw customers down there and keep them out of the area north of the Citrus Tower. I think it's just silly to consider putting adult businesses in that area. I wonder how happy Minneola would be. Come to think of it, weren't THEY trying to put a casino in Minneola not too long ago, if I remember right? What's up with that?!

We, our laws, our government cannot protect our our most precious children and the clermont council
is considering a "RED Light District". Shame on those you would support this type of behavior as it will only serve to generate more rapes and abuses of the people we care most about. The council should focus on how to redevelop the downtown area of Clermont which is right on the waterfront. This should be a area where people would want to shop and dine. Let's get our thinking right. |

I agree with not allowing that kind of business in the Clermont Commons. We have a business there and it is surrounded with child-related places like a daycare, a bounce-house indoor playground, a Karate studio, a cheerleading/tumbling place and a church! Who would even consider putting such smut in a child-friendly atmosphere such as this?! We can hear the sound of children playing during the day and sometimes we are still there at night. Boy, our days of visiting Daddy after hours would be OVER! I really hope they reconsider this.

well, I think its off the table for the clermont commons location. But however they do need to find a place that is zoned industrial or M1 for this so called red light district.. I don;t want it but, I understand what they are trying to do!! They need to come up with a zoned area for this type of business OR THEY COULD POP UP ANYWHERE IN TOWN and I don't want that! The city is trying to make a plan to get it zoned to have it only in the zoned location so they can't pop up anywhere!

Where are they wanting to put this? Gosh I hope this does not get approved what a sad day it would be for our town

PLEASE UNDERSTAND.. if this ordinance does not pass these places of business have the abiity to pop up anywhere!!!!!!! ANYWHERE. This is being put in place to protect us, not hurt the community. This way the city can put limitations so that they wouldn't want to move in here. No alcohol, no XXX signage, etc. I can't stand that people rant and rave about something they know so little about. We should be going to these meetings to SUPPORT what they are doing.

192 is the COUNTY, this is the City of Clermont. You might as well say move to Orlando. It's a matter of jurisdiction, and 192 is nowhere near the city limits
