What a shame that some humans can't relate to anything outside their own tiny little insignificant, pathetic world.

I hope that Ashland James never sees this poor victim again, that the dog is re-homed, and that James is banned for life from having any responsibility for the care and well-being of a companion animal.

Only the least among us wouldn't view this sad story as an indictment of human ignorance, arrogance, and indifference.

"Animal Protector" appears to be right on the money with those comments. Ashland James is a sorry excuse for a human being and needs to be taught a very expensive "lesson." Hopefully, he will never be allowed near animals again in his life.

That's pretty bad when a dogs nails are so unkempt that they are growing up and into the paw pads. Care for the lessor creatures is important. In the wilds their nails hone on rough surfaces. If you have an animal take care of it. If you can't take care of one, don't have one. If you find you can't take care of one once you have it then take it to the shelter. If it can't be adopted then it can be killed humanely. Domesticated breeds are mankinds responsibility.

Very well said, Animal Protector. I think it is worth mentioning that many people have the wrong opinion about Lake County Animal Services. I find them to be an amazingly compassionate group of people who do everything they can to rehabilitate the animals in their care and find them good homes. I pray this poodle rebounds from the abuse and neglect suffered at the hands of Ashland James and finds a loving home. Mr. James' statements are outrageous! I hope he is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Maybe you shouldn't be so quick to believe everything you read. Ashland James is my roommate and that dog is in fine health. Ashland adopted the dog about two years ago from an abusive owner. His teeth are in poor condition but he is already an old dog and like i said Ashalnd has only been his owner for a couple years. How dare you make any judgments on the type of human being you believe Ashland James is. He cares for that dog and so do I and there is no way he is malnourished and uncared for. And just because some irrational woman wants to make a huge scene when she doesn't even know what she's talking about, doesn't mean he should have been arrested and humiliated this way. Ashland is one of the kindest and loving people i know so maybe you should think about how there's more than once side to a story before you open your fat judgmental mouths.

Sooooo Gina, you are this screwball's roommate, right? Well, the way I see that, is why didn't YOU do something to prevent the dog from getting into a terrible condition? You state you "care for that dog?" It seems to me you could at the very least refer to him by name, not "that dog!" My recommendation to you, sweet Gina, is to look for another roommate because this loser needs to be behind bars for a while.

Excuse me but Ashland James is one of my dearest friends and he loves Willy. If he didnt care for Willy he wouldn't of even been at PETCO with him, he would of had him locked up somewhere. Also, dogs run away sometimes, that doesnt mean that Ashland doesnt care about him! For goodness sake, Ashland saved him from an abusive owner! Willy is an old, fragile dog and he is not malnourished at all because Ashland feeds him everyday. If you want to talk about animal cruelty look at the Kentucky Derby, where they kill the horse once they're no good anymore. I personally think it is horrible to see animals being abused but this isn't the case. How dare you call him a loser and say he needs to be behind bars when you dont even know his character or the situation.You are ignorant and dont comment on something unless you know both sides of the story!

...I am the man accused of animal cruelty... and its all b.s... I never hurt my dog or did anything to mistreat or neglect him. I let his hair get a little long cause I like the way he feels when he has hair. I don't have a car and I work a lot of hours so I cut him myself around his back and head. I didn't cut his hair around his back legs cause I didn't wanna risk cutting his flesh. When I got my dog his bottom tooth was allready pertruding and he was very little and in poor condition. I've taken good care of my willy eversince I had it, and any one who knows me knew my dog. They will valch 4me that this is the biggest load of shit they ever herd. Petco didn't call the police...animal control from lake county didn't call the police......THE LADY WHO FOUND THE DOG, AND WHO ALSO WANTED THE DOG, DID CALL THE POLICE. She thought that she would get the dog, but she didn't cause the cops just arrested me amd took my dog; the only proof being that his tooth was crooked and his hair was "too" long. if I was white she would've never called the cops but she knew she could so she did. Period, this lady has never even been in the courtroom to see that justice was served. And the case was dropped from a felony to a mistaminor. So all you people talking shit, you don't know me or what I do or what I have done so shut the fuk up cause im a good guy. Im the victim here.
