Audit: Errors in 100s of Colo. prison sentences

Hundreds of Colorado criminals were apparently given erroneous prison sentences, and judges and corrections officials across the state are scrambling to keep them from getting out early - or, in some cases, to return them to the prisons they just left, authorities said Tuesday.

Suspect in prison chief death was released early

Evan Ebel was released from prison more than three months early, largely due to his participation in programs designed to coax troubled offenders from solitary confinement that were championed by the man he is suspected of killing, Colorado prisons chief Tom Clements, authorities said Friday.
