Damage from tornadoes that struck Cleburne, Granbury and surrounding communities in North and Central Texas last week could cost $250 million in losses, according to an insurance industry group.

Several people were killed and more than 100 were injured Wednesday night when a possible tornado cut a wide swath through north Texas, officials said.

"We're doing maybe 120 to 130 calls a day," said Tim Arp with ArmourGuard , one of the larger shelter-makers in North Texas.

Starting the first week of June, some residents of Dallas, Denton, Collin and Tarrant counties will be eligible for federal funds to help install tornado shelters in at their homes.

A day earlier, a deadly EF5 tornado devastated the Oklahoma City suburb of Moore.

On Wednesday night, 16 tornadoes devastated much of Cleburne and Granbury, south of Fort Worth, leaving six people dead and millions of dollars worth of damage to the two normally sleepy towns.
