Sad & frightening. Getting out of one's vehicle after an accident can be dangerous as hell. The first reaction though is getting out, out of concern, to see if everyone involved in an accident is okay. Deepest sympathy.

But then if you or anybody has already skidded or slipped or rolled and it is icy then why would anybody stay in harm's way ? You might want to get out of your car before it gets hit by the next semi truck and RUN TO A SAFE PLACE.

Yes, but in this case two crash victims did not run to safety, but rather went to go check on a third crash victim.
