The Yavapai College Foundation honored several individuals who have undertaken outstanding service to the College at the Foundation's annual meeting on May 8 at the College's Performing Arts Center.

Jerome Elks Lodge #1361 in Clarkdale held its' annual Youth Week Awards Ceremony on Thursday, May 2. Following a spaghetti dinner, Donna Giles, President of the Elks Lodge, began the awards presentation by introducing Bill Frazier, Chairman of the Hoop Shoot, to call up four attending winners of this year's Hoop Shoot Free Throw contest.

The Verde Independent May 3 had a front-page and an editorial page article about closing the Clarkdale-Jerome School campus for security reasons that stem from being in the wake of the Sandy Hook School tragedy.

A record 587.4 pounds of medication was collected at the April 27th Dump the Drugs.

A meeting will be held Wednesday, May 15, to talk about school security at the Clarkdale-Jerome School.
