I'll be curious to see if this gets off the ground and how long it will take. If it does, it's going to be painful for commuters until the work is done.

This is needed, but how about an on ramp directly from I-57 to I-294 and vice versa? It's way overdue!

1. I hope the plans keep the Eisenhower "in the ditch" through Oak Park. We're past the days of uprooting neighborhoods to bulldoze homes just so motorists can get to and from work faster.

2. The study to Cap the Ike is encouraging. The Ike is noisy and cuts a community in half. If we're going to make it easier for motorists, lets have some equality for residents along the path. In the '50s and '60s the car was king and people along the roadways we "collateral damage" so we could drive faster and farther. In 2009, let's balance cars and people.

Ideally we should make the Eisenhower part part of the Illinois Tollway System. This would reduce traffic by sending many to the tax- payer funded mass transit systems. User fee roads are the only way to go. You do not want to pay, use the surface roads or the bus or train. This is a win win situation.

It's not a win-win situation for those municipalities that maintain the surface roads that traffic switches to.

When tolls went up on I-90, the road surface on the alternate routes (out west) was pretty much destroyed over the next year; while the roads could support trucks, they were never designed to support the numbers of trucks that switched.

Daily Horoscope for December 3

Sagittarius

You're in rather a downbeat mood, Sagittarius, and you definitely need cheering up. Unfortunately, it's heavy weather at the moment, as Mars slows and the cosmos rather disturbed, but later in the month is wonderful for you. Money problems are particularly difficult to deal with right now, because you can't help worrying about them. Now that prevents you seeing the best course of action to solve them. Relax, even miserable moods soon pass.
