Anniversary of 9/11 terrorist attacks marked in Chimacum ceremony

The 13th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks was commemorated Thursday at the Chimacum Schools campus with a ceremony that recognized the importance of emergency workers. "After the attacks, first responders were drawn to Ground Zero with no concern for their own safety," said Naval Magazine Indian Island Cmdr.

State Supreme Court holds Legislature in contempt over schools case with Chimacum roots

The state Supreme Court today held the Legislature in contempt over the lack of progress in education funding. The unusual action is in response to legislative delay in court-ordered full funding of kindergarten-through-12th-grade education in Washington public schools, as ruled in the Supreme Court's McCleary decision two years ago.

Sing-along to celebrate wilderness OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK -- A special Olympic mountain music sing-along will help celebrate the the 50th anniversary of the federal Wilderness Act at the Heart o' the Hills campground amphitheater on Saturday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. "Olympic Mountain Music" by Dan Lieberman and Friends is an educational music project inspired by the wilderness mountains of Olympic National Park. Accompanying Lieberman will be percussionist Brian Phillips and story and songsmiths Alice and "Ranger" Dunbar Susong.
