Our view: Dedication to environment an example to emulate

The term "carbon footprint" gets tossed around a lot, in both environmental and anti-environmental circles.

If it did not save money no one would care about the so called "carbon footprint".

Stopping local polution is a great idea, saving the world from its natural global warming is pie in the sky.

It is amazing that they actually put helping future generations in their building plans and efforts especially here in Franklin County - the home to all the climate experts who do not believe the man has an effect on global warming.

Yep, we can continue to pump more & more & more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere with no effect. Brilliant. Just freakin' brilliant.

I'll be more than happy to sell carbon credits to any who wish to buy them. If you have bought into the Global Warming Religion, fine, if not, you can still buy carbon credits or a Personal Methane Disposal Device even if you're not a believer.

We all know that education is useless and wasteful, this just proves it.

If they can do just this part, it will be a sure way of giving to the future of all of our children.

The school also pledges to serve as an environmental information resource for the Chambersburg area, an effort that could help instill that consciousness in the wider community.
That goal might fail to manifest as completely as Wilson officials might hope. But they still deserve much credit for their work on their own house, so to speak, since a good example begins at home.

Gotta love the liberals and global warming crowd! This weekend on the news I saw that the new light bulbs (you know the ones that look like the old neon lights) are now very hazardous to our health!

So we are gonna die from the new lights but at least the environment is clean!

Those light bulbs you talk about are made in China. I bet that is one of Dave's brilliant ideas. Stop global warming, don't allow anymore babies to be born. After all that exhaling of carbon dioxide is causing global warming.

So far, the Wilson Liberals have shown Fat Al's "Inconvenient Truth" movie, sponsored Chelsea Clinton's head-bobbing pitch held under some shade trees for her mother, and will no doubt have a "Yes, we can!" rally when school begins this Sept.

Tom, You're smarter than that. Yes the compact flourescents have mercury as do those long tubes that we have been burning in our schools & hospitals for years. Not very much but some. These CF have a lot less than those longer tubes.

I had read somewhere that the mercury contained in one CF burnt it's lifetime is less than the mercury generated in electric generation of the difference in electric use with that of a standard bulb.

At least with the CF bulb, you can safely dispose of it where the mercury from the power plants just wafts over little towns & schools.

No mercury - just deadly waste that will remain radioactive for around 50,000 years.
