A Centre Island resident reported the presence of two unexpected visitors on his property early Wednesday morning: two female doe feeding on newly planted shrubs caused an alarm bell to ring on Centre Island.

Nassau County police say they heard a radio call for help Thursday evening from a man whose 17-foot-boat was taking on water near Centre Island.

The Queens man was the only person on the boat and didn't know where he was. So the police marine officers used their onboard instruments to find him.
