Police rescue man from leaking boat in Long Island
A police marine patrol unit has rescued a man who radioed for help after his boat started leaking in the waters near a Long Island village where many celebrities own homes.
Nassau County police say they heard a radio call for help Thursday evening from a man whose 17-foot-boat was taking on water near Centre Island.
The Queens man was the only person on the boat and didn't know where he was. So the police marine officers used their onboard instruments to find him.
Police say they took the man onto their patrol vessel and he's doing fine. They say his leaky boat was towed away and secured.
