Suffolk County's Vanderbilt Museum, after years of trying, has finally made a $1 million deal to bring in an outside contractor to hold weddings and provide food service at the 43-acre Centerport complex.

Huntington's Democratic Highway Superintendent William Naughton has screened with the Republican Party for this fall's election, as the Democrats met this week with two others who have thrown their hats into the race.

Councilwoman Susan Berland was able to claim victory after the Huntington Town Board voted Tuesday to require homeowners to control running bamboo so that it won't spread and damage the property of others.
