Firefighters from fire departments throughout the San Bernardino valley and mountains take part in the San Bernardino County Fire Training Officers' Association's wildland training exercises Wednesday May 8, 2013 at the Forest Lawn Scout Reservation in Cedar Glen.

A Senate panel has approved legislation meant to ensure that a San Bernardino County loan to jump-start recovery efforts in the fire-ravaged mountain community of Cedar Glen will not be pulled into the redevelopment dissolution process and given away to other agencies.

As the 10-year anniversary of the devastating Old Fire nears, the San Bernardino Mountains community of Cedar Glen has yet to see most of the improvements that were promised to help it rebuild.
