this is screwed up. seriously. this is bad.

Weird that i just read this and I will share it. it was in refernce to another that's in a position of power but one could apply it here.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

He has erected a multitude of new offices, and sent hither swarms of officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.

He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his assent to their acts of pretended legislation:

For taking away our charters, abolishing our most valuable laws, and altering fundamentally the forms of our governments:

In every stage of these oppressions we have petitioned for redress in the most humble terms: our repeated petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

I think the City Council of Carson could accomplish a lot of good things for it citizens if people would just get off Attacking Mayor Dear long enough for him and his council to get some real work done! When you spend all your time fending off attacks, leaves little time to do work that benefits everyone.
Give it a rest you had your recall and lost!

Dear has been critisized but not attacked...he is the one who is an expert at viscious attacking when he doesn't get his way.

Nine thousand members of Carson's black community signed cards to recall Mayor Dear. When the recall election was held, only three thousand members of the black community bothered to vote thinking that the others would carry the vote enough to get rid of Dear.

Dear only votes depending upon where the money is, and if you weren't so blind, you would know that. Carson has two past Mayors in prison with one on his way out, however, Mayor Dear will probably take his place at the gray-bar hotel as he is becoming more and more corrupt just like they were. Dear's brother was mayor of Gardena and he was thrown out on his ear for nearly bankrupting that city, now his brother comes to the Carson City Council meetings and tells Mayor Dear how to bankrupt Carson.

Hermosa Beach and Hawthorne just held their elections and this time, the residents woke-up and got rid of the undesirebales on the council and hopefully that will come to be soon here in Carson.

The bottome line here is that our Mayor Jim Dear follows the money. All you have to do to get Mayor Dears vote is to offer him a "CAMPAIGN DONATION" and SUDDENLY Mayor Dear is voting for what ever it is that you want him to vote for. IS THAT THE KIND OF MAYOR THAT "YOU" WANT????? It certainly is NOT the kind of Mayor we want here in Carson.

So, don't feel sorry for Jim Dear, feel sorry for the people of the City of Carson, if you have a heart, and if not, just join the crowd that still dosen't have a clue.

What on earth is happening? Home Depot, Galaxy owner Philip F. Anschutz and his Anschutz Corporation, Alpine Village Gerald King, BP, ARCO, Ducommun, Neubauer and the Currie Gang all want to make sure----Kargs of the World can not ask about the Treason like in 1988 [see Cox Report 1998]. I guess you've never heard of the "Mafia Dear Brothers."

This must be a "Blowback" from the Winds of Change!

Where are our Representatives, Rohrabacher & Harman, the LA Times, Easy Reader, Random Length, and LAHC Tides? Tide down by Acorn and their "250 other organizations"? See the Employment Policies Institute, July 2006 issue, America's Bad Seed.

Who is forcing Dear to take this action? Mayor Dear is so focused on his position of power that he is willing to do almost anything. Many Carson residents may think he is a good Mayor because he shows up at EVERY event. Well, I am concerned that he does show up at every event. He is obsessive and out of control. He sets aside good judgement and often supports causes that are self serving. He is brilliant at manipulation but he is very insecure and needs constant reinforcement. Carson could do better.

Don't miss the point, folks. The evening the Mayor lost it was one where he played with the Agenda so that Barbara Post would have to stay until almost 1 in the morning to be heard.

Keep in mind that the residents of the Carousel tract are facing one of the most difficult situations in their lives. They are deeply upset about exposure to chemicals and what this is or has been doing to their kids.

Instead of being sympathetic to this, Jim Dear was as nasty as possible because, after all, she did not want him to be at their meeting. What's more important--the health of the residents or Jim's being snubbed? Clearly, Jim put the health of the residents second.

Julie Raber was almost as bad. Her main concern was that she had not been invited to the meetings of the tract. Top priority---me, Julie.

This is not what I want to have running the city. How about you?

One should never encourage the loss of Freedom of Speech. This is a terrible thing and sure enough it will come back to haunt the ones who voted for this.

Dear was given a chance to redeem himself and make his past wrongs right, but as the manipulation is prevelent in his soul, he is unable to do this. Some people are who they are and it takes some longer than it does others to see it.....but the light will come on. Justice will prevail, it always does.

The Mute button should be used in instances of profanity and or threats but certainly not to Mute other elected Council members and appropriate dissent. Muting a fellow Council member borders on insanity and is actually a “Nazi” type dictatorship.

The Mute button should only be used when a Citizen uses profane language or threatens our elected officials but any other use of said Mute button is in fact a violation of our first amendment rights; and past practices dictates that it should have been investigated more thoroughly by the City Attorney as to it’s legality before a vote was taken.

I am truly concerned that our voices have been silenced by our own elected officials.

I understand that there is a need for control and decorum, but when only ONE voice is allowed to speak for a long period of time, that truly should concern ALL OF US.

Once again, we have a divided City Council that is not concerned about the needs of the Citizens but are engaged in their petty control issues. In the interim, we the Citizens are the losers in their Turf War. It is like watching the Crips and the Bloods Gangs going at each other with No Guns!

When will ALL the Madness stop and appropriate Government start?

I am muted on this blog and so are you and everyone else. Just try typing in the 4-letter word for manure and find out for yourself. People have been expelled from the Daily Breeze forum for posting material deemed irrelevant or offensive.

Whether Jim Dear is acting wisely is something to argue but I think he's doing the right thing. People do not have a fundamental right to speak endlessly and interfere with the operation of city councils. For one thing, if I hog the microphone nobody else can talk. The unelected person with the microphone is in charge of the meeting. Not good.

Whether or not we as citizens have a fundamental right to make speeches in front of OUR city council, is not the question. The question is, does our ELECTED MAYOR have the right to mute a citizen who is addressing OUR city council re: legitimate city business just because he (the mayor) does not like what they are saying. Our Consitution guarantees the Right of Free Speech. Now go ahead and twist that around to show that we the people do not have the right to address our government.

There is already a three minute limit in place as there are usually a large number of residents who wish to speak. If a speaker uses profanity or refuses to recognise the three minute limit, then yes, they should be muted and removed. Other than that, a mute button should never ever be used.
