Mescalero man pleaded guilty to 2012 Ruidoso assault
Carrizozo>>A Mescalero man faces more than 41 years in prison after pleading guilty to several felony charges related to the 2012 sexual assault of a Capitan woman who was leaving a Ruidoso McDonald's where she worked. Twelfth Judicial Deputy District Attorney John P. Sugg said Kenneth Kaulay, 42, pleaded guilty on Tuesday in a Carrizozo courtroom to first-degree kidnapping, second-degree attempting to commit first-degree murder, second-degree armed robbery and fourth-degree aggravated stalking.

Four arrested after Carrizozo woman stabbed multiple times
Four people have been arrested on allegations ranging from attempted murder to drug-related charges after an incident that occurred at a Carrizozo party that led to a woman being stabbed multiple times, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff's office. Three of five caught in Ruidoso Downs drug raid in June plead not guilty
Three of the five individuals arrested during a June 19 narcotics raid on two separate Ruidoso Downs homes were arraigned in Judge Karen Parsons's 12th Judicial District Court in Carrizozo Wednesday. Tiffany Phillips, 26, entered a not-guilty plea and will be going to trial.

Lincoln County voters will decide health care mill levy reauthorization
Brad Treptow, standing, with the Lincoln County Medical Center, and Scott Shafer, vice chairman of the hospital's board of directors, discussed the November election that could renew for eight years a property tax designated to help deliver health care in the county, including the hospital, ambulance service and rural health care clinics. For the past 22 years, Lincoln County voters have shown their support for the county-owned hospital in Ruidoso, the county emergency medical ambulance service and multiple rural health care clinics by approving a special property tax levy restricted to health care use.
Lincoln County sets new property tax rates; Ruidoso, Ruidoso Downs see increases
Property tax rates in Lincoln County declined in 2014 for most municipalities and settlements, but went up for owners in Ruidoso and Ruidoso Downs. Ruidoso residential property owners will see their rate increase by 6.43 percent from 26.885 mills in 2013 to 28.615 mills, primarily to pay back bonds sold to finance replacement of aging water lines in an effort to cut the loss of water from the municipal system.

Ruidoso Police Department calls
Adam Hill of Ruidoso was arrested for a domestic violence incident that occurred on Aug. 13. Responding officers found scratches on Hill's face and red marks around the victim's neck where he allegedly had grabbed her by the throat and held her against a door.
