The complications surrounding modern allegations of police brutality, as well as unwarranted attacks on police officers, are illuminated by some interlocking court proceedings in Cumberland County. Last week, the activist -- Walter L. Hudson Sr. -- was ordered by an arbitrator to pay $131,000 to the policeman, who sued the activist and two Penns Grove officials over injuries the policeman received at a 2014 middle-school basketball game.
