The oldest active volunteer firefighter in Forrest County has been honored for his decades of service to his community.

Forrest County officials on Thursday denied claims that a 911 dispatcher was slow to notify volunteer firefighters of the Saturday morning explosion near Carnes that killed two teenagers.
