The Kaskaskia River at Carlyle Lake remains 2 feet above flood level, according to the National Weather Service. The Army Corps of Engineers says minor flooding is possible in coming days downstream from Carlyle and Rend lakes.

Clinton Showcase presents 'Godspell'
The Clinton County Showcase is ready to give audiences an encore of Easter when it presents the rousing musical 'Godspell' this weekend and next on its Breese stage.
It's Stephen Schwartz's fresh re-interpretation of the Bible that wound up on Broadway in 1976, with touring companies around the world ever since. The show boasts a score full of infectious melodies in a variety of styles, including 'All Good Gifts,' 'Turn Back O Man' and the ever-popular 'Day By Day.'
Adam Klostermann, of Breese, will make his Showcase debut as Jesus along with Tim Diekemper, of Smithton, as John the Baptist. The cast of 10 also features Marty Diekemper, Jenny Mondt and Lynne Huelsmann, all of Breese; Lauren Fuehne, of Highland; Charlie Pollmann, of Beckemeyer; Josh MacDonald, of Carlyle; Lizz Gloeckner, of Trenton; and Darlene Caviness, of Swansea. The production is directed by Charlie and Mike Huelsmann with Robin Netemeyer doing the choreography. Read more

New packet updates city on project

Until he received a mailed packet last week, Mayor Mark Eckert had said he was ready to call off a deal with developer City Centre Associates for a residential and retail development near the Belleville MetroLink tracks because the developer hadn't delivered on its promises.
But Steve Scott, of Indianapolis-based City Centre, said Scott Hilliard Kosene, the company that did the feasibility study, long ago delivered what Belleville for the past year has been asking for -- a $43,000 feasibility study. Read more

Don't let your Christmas tree go to waste this year after the holidays.
Christmas trees can be dropped off at several sites in St. Clair and Madison counties as well as at sites at Carlyle Lake.
Before disposal, all trees accepted must be stripped of decorations, including tinsel and garland. Residents are encouraged to use the drop-off locations during daytime hours for Christmas trees only, as pine wreaths, pine roping, or other landscape waste is prohibited.-
