Music To Change Lives
“I knew nothing was that good, but it was surprising to see how bad their classrooms were”
- In a school where lessons can take many forms, a program to teach Canton Intermediate School students about social issues recently led a group of students to record a compact disc with two of their teachers.
The resulting CD, 'Through The Same Eyes,' was released this month, with the goal of raising money to benefit the Kilimanjaro Education Foundation, which supports schools in a town in Tanzania.
The inspiration for the project came in September, when a group of sixth-graders started a pen pal relationship with students in a school in Olturoto, about a 11 2-hour drive from Mount Kilimanjaro. Read more
