North Carolinians turned out in droves Thursday at the State Farmers Market for all things related to a homegrown and juicy favorite -- peach ice cream, peach cider, peach pie and cobbler recipes, even a Peach Queen.

North Carolina's peach season runs from the end of May through September. More than 70 different varieties are grown in the state, some bearing names of towns in North Carolina's peach-growing belt -- Biscoe, Candor, Troy and Ellerbe.

Keith Housley of Candor says he may have to take his wife on a dream cruise after he hit the top prize playing "$500,000 Jackpot." He says his wife has been asking for years to go on a cruise and, after investing most of his take home of $340,003, he may just make her wish come true.
